BROADWINDSOR & DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
Annual Show 2017, Comrades Hall, Monday 28 August
If you have not yet entered one of our shows, why not give it a go this year? With over 90 classes to choose from, there is almost certainly at least one that will suit you.
To dispel a myth, it is not the same old faces who win all the prizes. Last year, 14 people shared the 19 trophies and cups on offer in the adult section. This year, your chances will be even better with the addition of a new cup, the Ian Jones Dahlia Cup, which has been kindly donated by Megan Jones. So put in your exhibits and one of these might be gracing your home for the next 12 months.
Show schedules, with full details of all the classes and the entry form, are available either from the Comrades Hall servery or the village shop. There is no charge for entries, but your completed form does have to be delivered to the shop by 25 August.
The Blackdown Trust is a village-based fund set up over 50 years ago to contribute towards the expense of further education for individual local students. The amount available depends on the number of applicants.
You are eligible to apply if:
- You live in Broadwindsor, Burstock, Blackdown, or Thorncombe
- Also you have attended local schools and are leaving to further your education
- You have qualified for and have been accepted as a student on a recognised course at university/college/ college-apprenticeship/agricultural college
Please send a letter of application, including details of the above and any other information you consider relevant, to The Blackdown Trust, c/o Burstock Grange Farm, Broadwindsor, DT8 3LL, or email email@example.com before 15 September.
